During this seminar, Michael Wood will discuss his latest documentary ‘How China Got Rich’, which takes viewers on a journey through the fast-paced development of the Chinese economy. Over the past four decades, China has transformed into a major economic player and become a driver of global capitalism. This transformation has lifted people out of poverty on an unprecedented scale. Alongside clips of “How China Got Rich,” this seminar will provide a riveting discussion of the extraordinary scale of China’s economic transformation from the lens of an award-winning filmmaker.

Michael Wood is a historian and producer of many acclaimed documentary films, including ‘The Story of India’ and ‘The Story of China.’ He leverages his decades of experience as a historian and broadcaster to bring history to life for audiences around the globe. He is also the author of best-selling books on English history including ‘In Search of the Dark Ages’ and ‘Domesday.’ Wood serves as Manchester University’s Professor of Public History.
