The Baltic Programme at the Centre for Geopolitics, University of Cambridge is pleased to announce a call for applications for the Baltic Geopolitics Network Publication Prize. The prize of £1000 will be awarded for an outstanding publication  a book or an article in an academic journal – on the subject of the geopolitics of the Baltic Sea region, broadly conceived.

The prize aims to encourage Baltic geopolitics research and to foster connections between scholars in the field.

Who can apply?

• Authors (or author collectives of no more than 3 persons) of works that were published no earlier than 2020

• Language of publication: English, or an official English language edition/ translation

• Researchers in the fields of history, politics, international relations, international law and sociology are particularly encouraged to apply

Application process

A full electronic copy/scan of the publication should be sent to Donatas Kupčiūnas at dk658@cam.ac.uk, with ‘BGN Publication Prize 2023 submission’ in the subject line, no later than 8 February 2023.

Selection process

The winner will be chosen by the Baltic Geopolitics Network panel of seven academics from the University of Cambridge and partner universities in the Baltic Sea region.

Announcement of the winner

Applicants will be informed by 8 March 2023. The prize will be awarded at the Baltic Geopolitics Network Symposium held at the University of Cambridge on 22 March 2023.
