This panel will reflect on the implications and future of the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland to the Withdrawal Agreement agreed between the EU and the UK (i.e. the Northern Ireland Protocol) as well as on the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill, currently under consideration in the House of Lords. This event is being organised in conjunction with St Catharine’s College and the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA) think tank in Dublin.

The meeting will begin with a presentation of a paper on the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill by Andrew McCormick, former lead official on Brexit for the Northern Ireland Executive. It will be followed by a panel discussion with Andrew McCormick, David O’Sullivan (IIEA Director General and former Secretary General of the European Commission), Katy Hayward (Professor of Political Sociology at Queen’s University Belfast), and Jeffrey Donaldson (DUP leader and MP for Lagan Valley). Sir Jeffrey’s participation is subject to parliamentary business.

This event is part of the Cambridge Future of the Island of Ireland series, presented in partnership with the Centre for Geopolitics and St Catharine’s College.
