This event will focus on the mutual historical representations of Britain and Turkey in the late Ottoman and the early Republican era, with a specific focus on the ways in which the concept of Europe has been articulated by both sides in the given period, with reflections on the contemporary Turkey-Europe and Britain-Europe relationship. The discussions will partly draw from a Horizon 2020 project funded by the European Commission on the Future of Turkey-Europe relations, and will be part of the Forum's Axel and Margaret Ax:son Johnson Foundation funded series of events.
