The Centre for Geopolitics is pleased to host a talk with Elbridge A. Colby on his new book The Strategy of Denial: American Defense in an Age of Great Power Conflict. Colby will discuss his book in conversation with Helen Thompson, Professor of Political Economy at the University of Cambridge.

In response to the rise of China, successive U.S. administrations have been aware of the need for a pivot to Asia but have struggled to come to terms with the end of American unipolarity. In the new era of great power politics, Colby has produced a vision, firmly rooted in the realist tradition, for how America can confront China and secure its interests.

When he served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for strategy and force development, Colby led the formulation of the 2018 National Defense Strategy. Colby is also co-founder and principal of The Marathon Initiative.
