Centre for Geopolitics

Providing historically-grounded solutions to enduring geopolitical problems
CfG Directors

Dr Kun-Chin Lin has taken over as Acting Director of the Centre for Geopolitics this month. Kun-Chin’s appointment comes at an exciting time for the Centre, which has been one of Cambridge’s most active research institutes in 2020. Since March, the Centre has hosted almost thirty online events on subjects ranging from the geopolitics of coronavirus to the implementation of Hong Kong’s new National Security Law.

Kun-Chin is a University Lecturer in Politics and the Tun Suffian College Lecturer at Gonville & Caius College. He is the lead on the centre’s Rising China and Maritime Security research strands and an expert on Asia-Pacific security questions.

Kun-Chin’s appointment comes as the Centre’s Director, Professor Brendan Simms, goes on sabbatical for the Michaelmas term. Brendan is likely to be busy; he is completing a book with Charlie Laderman on the events on December 1941 and another with Steven McGregor on the battle of Midway, as well as designing a new POLIS course on Britain and the Baltic.

We wish both every success for the term ahead.
